Flower Remedies

The healing power of nature has been known almost since time began. Flowers and plants uplift us. Scents give pleasure, colours and forms entrance us, and the whole splendour of nature nurtures us. On a more physical level, plants give us food and medicines.

But it is the invisible level, the level of vibrations, that is really fascinating. Science is starting to get interested in what we all know is true – the world is composed of vibrations. We can use these vibrations to provide harmonious patterns.

We all know instinctively which flowers and plants we like to look at. We are now discovering that just seeing them and touching them can help us feel differently. Even more interesting, making a flower essence, and taking it, can help support our feelings. Nature can help support us to reflect on our experiences, moving us on from stuck frames of mind and uplift us.

Most people have heard of Rescue Remedy and many have used it for help and support in an emergency or crisis. However, there are many more Flower Remedies around. The 38 remedies in the Bach Remedy system were discovered in the UK by Dr Edward Bach, a well-known bacteriologist, physician and pathologist who proved through years of case studies, that healing on an emotional level has knock-on effects on physical, mental and spiritual levels. That is to say, a healthy emotional life and a balanced personality will allow your body to find its own natural state of health.

In more recent years new ranges of flower essences have been introduced, such as Australian Bush Flower Essences and Alaskan Flower-Gem Essences.

Each remedy is associated with a basic human emotion or emotional personality. The idea is to select and mix together the remedies you need so that the mix of remedies matches your current emotional situation. Mimulus, for example, is the remedy for when we are anxious or afraid about something specific. Taking the remedy helps us overcome our fear and face it with courage.

Most remedies are sold in liquid form in good pharmacies or health food shops. These are not intended to be used neat, but instead diluted and mixed with other remedies to form a bespoke combination to meet your unique needs.

Flower Remedy practitioners will not only help you to identify the correct combination of flower remedies to use, but will also listen to you with compassion and provide emotional support as you navigate the challenges in your life. The combination of essences can be mixed for you into a bespoke blend and can be fine tuned over a period of time as your emotional response shifts towards balance.
